About our Founder
Christina Malloy, LICSW
I created Therapy Unleashed to support the mental and emotional wellbeing of veterinary professionals. Having worked in veterinary medicine for over 10 years, I understand there is a great need for wellbeing services tailored to those working in this challenging field.
Before starting Therapy Unleashed, I worked as a veterinary social worker at a large specialty and emergency veterinary hospital in Massachusetts. One of the most common requests I received from staff was a referral to a therapist that understood the emotional demands of working in veterinary medicine only to find they were almost non-existent. Therapy Unleashed was created to fill that niche for those working in the veterinary field. In addition to tailored therapy for veterinary professionals, Therapy Unleashed also offers mobile veterinary social work and consulting to veterinary hospitals throughout New England and virtual VSW support to hospitals outside my normal range.
While I specialize in therapy and wellness for veterinary professionals, I fully believe that your role in veterinary medicine is just one part of who you are. I believe in treating the whole self so that you can thrive in all areas of your life. I strongly believe in the importance of creating a healthy work-life balance and effective boundaries that allow you to flourish.
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) based out of the Greater Boston area. I received my master’s in social work from Simmons University and received my BA from Boston University. When I am not working, you might find me tending to my house plants, crocheting dog sweaters, or travelling. Whatever I am doing, my golden retriever, Argo, and my Chinese Crested, Lilo, are never far behind.
